Ella Rock

Ella Rock is the classic half-day hike from Ella town. The route follows the railway line south, crosses tea estate paths, and climbs through eucalyptus forest to a broad escarpment looking down through Ella Gap toward Wellawaya. Total distance is about 9 km return, with around 3-4 hours moving time. Trails are unsigned and easy to lose, so an early start and a local guide help. Pair it with the easier Little Adam's Peak loop on the opposite side of town.
